Phew. We’re back from 4 days in the car, dropping off daughter #2 at Washington University in St. Louis. This, her junior year, was the easiest drop-off yet – both physically and emotionally. She is living in an apartment this year and the physical moving was much easier than into the dorms. Less stairs, less corners to turn, closer parking, and more space to drop things. Emotionally, she seems to be a good place this year, too. Happy with known roommates, anxious to see other friends, excited about classes and where they might take her. Double phew.
Husband and I actually got a chance to do a few things in St. Louis this trip, too. I really like St. Louis, and I like it more the more I see of it. We drove and walked thru some neighborhoods, scoping out some old addresses for a friend. We spent several hours strolling around the Missouri Botanical Gardens, it lived up to all the good things we have heard about it. We toured the St. Louis Brewing Co – the makers of Schafly beer. Good tour, good beer, and a great pulled pork sandwich at the adjoining restaurant. Plenty more to see and do in St. Louis, but I’m sure we’ll be up there again. I love road trips, but I especially like them when they include a diversion or two along the way.
Now it’s time to settle back into the quiet life here in Houston. High on my priority list? Regular blogging. We’ll see how that goes.
